The Patient's Goals
For this 45-year-old international patient, the eyes read as tired even when she was not. Upper-lid hooding had begun to shadow the eyelid platform and under-eye bags weighed on the lower lids, a combination Canadian patients in their forties often describe. She wanted a rested, natural look rather than a changed one, so we planned an upper and lower blepharoplasty in a single stage.
Surgeon's Expert Approach
The technical focus of this procedure was lifting the upper-lid weight and smoothing the lower lid without altering the eye’s natural shape.
- Upper and lower lid correction: We removed the upper-lid hooding through a hidden crease incision, then repositioned the herniated lower-lid fat pads to smooth the lid-cheek junction rather than simply cutting fat away.
- brow lift technique assessed: We checked brow position first to confirm the heaviness was eyelid skin and not a descended brow, so no lift was needed.
- Recovery Protocol: She completed recovery with HBOT and LLLT to reduce bruising and swelling around the eyes and speed early healing.
