My Philosophy: What Reconstruction Teaches About Aesthetics
I did not come to aesthetic surgery from the outside. My specialty board is in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery — the same training that covers cleft repair, hand and limb injuries, and microsurgical tissue transfer.
That background shapes how I plan a breast lift or a body contouring case. Reconstruction teaches you where the blood supply runs, how tissue behaves under tension, and how a scar matures over two years rather than two weeks. Those are the things that decide whether a result still looks right in year three.
So my consultations are unhurried and fairly technical. I would rather tell you honestly that a procedure will not give you the result you are picturing than promise it and manage your disappointment later — particularly when you are booking flights and time away from work on the strength of that conversation.

How do I verify Dr. Yılmaz's credentials from Canada before I book anything?
Start with the number. Dr. Yılmaz holds the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health specialist certificate in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, issued on 7 November 2022 under specialty registration number 157105.
Turkey maintains a public physician registry, so you can check that number yourself from home — the same habit you would apply to a Canadian surgeon through the Royal College or your provincial college. Her diploma and specialist certificate are published on this page for the same reason: a credential nobody can check is not really a credential.
One detail worth knowing before you search. Her medical degree and most of her course certificates were issued under her maiden name, Aylin Akbulut; she practises today as Aylin Yılmaz. Both names belong to registration number 157105.
AKM Clinic lists three surgeons. Which one would perform my breast or body procedure?
Dr. Yılmaz. She is the surgeon on our team whose specialty board is in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, and breast and body work is her focus: breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, tummy tuck, liposuction, and combined mommy makeover procedures.
Our other two surgeons are certified in different fields — Dr. Akif Mehmetoglu is a dermatosurgeon working in facial rejuvenation, and Dr. Göknil Gültekin is an ENT surgeon working in rhinoplasty. Cases are not rotated between them. The surgeon whose specialty matches your procedure is the surgeon who operates on you.
How does the cost compare with having the same surgery privately in Canada?
The difference is substantial for most of our Canadian patients, but the comparison worth making is what each figure actually covers.
Private cosmetic surgery in Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal is usually quoted as a surgeon’s fee, with the operating facility, anaesthesia, compression garments and follow-up visits billed separately. Our quote is a single all-inclusive figure: surgery in a JCI-accredited hospital, hotel, private transfers, medication, and post-operative reviews, with nothing added afterwards.
Add up the Canadian line items before you compare. Otherwise the two numbers are not describing the same thing.
Can breast and body procedures be combined in one operation, and does that make sense when I am flying in from Canada?
Often yes. A breast lift with abdominoplasty and liposuction — a mommy makeover — is one of the most requested combinations among our international patients. Whether it suits you depends on your BMI, your medical history, and the total operating time involved.
Dr. Yılmaz assesses this during the virtual consultation, before you book flights. If a combination pushes operating time past what she is comfortable with, she will recommend staging it instead. That answer disappoints some people, and we would rather give it before you fly than after.
Plan on roughly ten to fourteen days in Istanbul for a combined procedure, and confirm your return flight with her rather than booking it first.
I would prefer a female surgeon for breast surgery. Is that possible at AKM Clinic?
Yes. Dr. Yılmaz is a female plastic surgeon, and for many of our breast surgery patients that matters — during the physical examination, and during the conversation about what they actually want from the result.
Consultations are held in English: by video before you travel, and in person in Istanbul. Video appointments are scheduled around Canadian time zones rather than ours. If you would like a female nurse present for the examination, mention it to your patient coordinator; it is arranged as a matter of course, not as a special request.
