My Philosophy: What Reconstruction Teaches Us About Aesthetics
I did not come to aesthetic surgery from the outside. My specialist qualification is in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery — the same training that encompasses cleft repair, hand and limb trauma, and microsurgical tissue transfer.
That grounding shapes how I plan a breast uplift or a body contouring case. Reconstructive work teaches you where the blood supply runs, how tissue behaves under tension, and how a scar matures over two years rather than a fortnight. These are the considerations that determine whether a result still looks right in its third year.
My consultations are therefore unhurried and rather technical. I would far rather tell you honestly that a procedure will not achieve the result you have in mind than promise it and manage your disappointment afterwards — particularly when you are booking flights and annual leave on the strength of that conversation.

Questions About Dr Yılmaz
Dr Yılmaz is not on the GMC register. How do I check her qualifications from the UK?
That is the right question, and the honest answer is that a surgeon practising in Türkiye will not appear on the GMC register — UK registration applies to doctors practising in the UK. What she holds is the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health specialist certificate in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, issued on 7 November 2022 under specialty registration number 157105.
Türkiye maintains a public physician registry, so you can verify that number yourself before booking, exactly as you would search the GMC specialist register at home. Her diploma and specialist certificate are published on this page for the same reason: a credential that cannot be checked is not a credential.
One point before you search. Her medical degree and most of her course certificates were issued under her maiden name, Aylin Akbulut; she practises today as Aylin Yılmaz. Both names belong to registration number 157105.
Which of your surgeons would carry out a mummy makeover or breast procedure?
Dr Yılmaz. She is the member of our team whose specialist qualification is in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, and breast and body work is her principal focus: breast augmentation, breast uplift, breast reduction, abdominoplasty, liposuction and combined mummy makeover procedures.
Our other two surgeons are qualified in different specialties — Dr Akif Mehmetoglu is a dermatosurgeon working in facial rejuvenation, and Dr Göknil Gültekin is an ENT surgeon working in rhinoplasty. We do not rotate cases between them; the surgeon whose specialty matches your procedure is the surgeon who operates.
How does the cost of a mummy makeover compare with a private clinic in the UK?
At a London private clinic, particularly around Harley Street, a combined abdominoplasty, breast uplift and liposuction is frequently quoted at two to three times our figure. The difference lies in the cost base rather than in the surgery.
The comparison worth making is what each price covers. UK quotations are commonly presented as a surgeon’s fee, with theatre time, the anaesthetist, your hospital stay, compression garments and follow-up appointments invoiced separately. Ours is a single all-inclusive figure covering surgery in a JCI-accredited hospital, 5-star accommodation, private chauffeur transfers, medication and post-operative reviews.
Add up the UK line items before you compare, or the two numbers are not describing the same thing.
Is it sensible to combine several procedures in one operation when I am travelling from the UK?
Frequently yes — a breast uplift with abdominoplasty and liposuction is among the most requested combinations we perform for British patients. Whether it is appropriate for you depends upon your BMI, your medical history and the total operating time the combination requires.
Dr Yılmaz assesses this at your video consultation, before any flights are booked. Should a combination extend operating time beyond what she considers safe, she will recommend staging the procedures instead. That answer occasionally disappoints, and we would far rather give it before you travel than afterwards.
Allow ten to fourteen days in Istanbul for a combined procedure. The flight from London is roughly four hours, and Dr Yılmaz confirms that you are fit to fly before you depart.
I would prefer a female surgeon, and I should like to know what happens once I am home in the UK.
Dr Yılmaz is a female plastic surgeon, which matters to a good many of our breast surgery patients — both during examination and during the conversation about what they actually want from the result. Should you wish a female nurse to be present for the examination, mention it to your patient coordinator; it is arranged as a matter of course rather than as a special request.
Aftercare does not conclude when you land. It begins with a final face-to-face review in Istanbul, and continues with scheduled video consultations with Dr Yılmaz once you are home. Our patient coordination team remains contactable throughout your recovery, so questions can be raised as they arise rather than held until the next appointment.
