Combining Arm Lift and Thigh Lift in One Session
Both procedures are performed in the same 3–4 hour operating session, under general anaesthesia or an awake technique depending on your assessment. The arm lift is done first with the patient in a supine position, then the surgical field is redraped for the medial thigh. Total tissue removal and anaesthesia time — not the number of procedures — decide whether combining is appropriate for you.
Not every patient is a candidate for both at once. During the virtual assessment our surgeons look at BMI stability (weight steady for at least 6 months), skin laxity grade on the inner thigh, whether the arm laxity extends onto the chest wall, and any history of lymphoedema or non-healing wounds. If the combined load is too high, we stage the two operations instead of shortening either one.
Technique options included in this package
- Mini brachioplasty — short scar hidden in the armpit, for laxity limited to the upper third of the arm.
- Standard or extended brachioplasty — incision along the inner arm, extended toward the chest wall when the excess continues past the armpit.
- Medial (inner) thigh lift — incision placed in the groin crease, sometimes extended down the inner thigh for heavy post-weight-loss laxity.
- Liposuction-assisted lift — added when there is residual fat under the loose skin, so the flap lies flatter.

Recovery Timeline After a Combined Arm and Thigh Lift
Arms recover faster than thighs. The thigh incision sits in a mobile, moist area, so it dictates most of your restrictions.
- Days 1–3: one night in hospital, drains may be used, compression garments on both arms and thighs. Walking short distances the same evening.
- Days 4–14: post-op checks at the clinic, sutures reviewed, hotel stay covers this window. Sitting for long periods and wide leg movements are limited.
- Day 14: most patients fly home and return to desk-based work.
- Weeks 3–6: swelling drops noticeably; light cardio resumes with surgeon approval. Compression continues.
- Months 3–12: scars fade from red to pale; final arm and thigh contour settles.
What the scars look like
Arm lift scars run along the inner arm where they face the body, so they are not visible when the arms hang down. Medial thigh lift scars sit in the groin crease and stay hidden by underwear and swimwear. Scars are permanent — the trade is a permanent scar for permanent removal of loose skin. Silicone taping and sun avoidance for the first year make the biggest difference to how they mature.

Will loose skin come back after the surgery?
The removed skin does not return. Significant weight regain or further weight loss after surgery can change the result, which is why we ask for a stable weight for at least 6 months beforehand.
Can the procedures be done awake?
An awake arm lift under local anaesthesia with twilight sedation is possible for suitable candidates. A medial thigh lift is generally performed under general anaesthesia. Your anaesthetic plan is confirmed after pre-op assessment.
